Premonitions:  Terror Prevention Perhaps Possible

Prior to 9/11, there were mass feelings of foreboding and clear premonitions of the terrorist attack to come.  Some were knowingly reported.  Some premonitions, extremely frightening, were not.  Many individuals who occasionally have these sorts of experiences are afraid to be labeled as “nuts.”  Yet, there is some evidence that our subconscious picks up on these impending events without us even being consciously aware.

Dean Radin, psi researcher writes in his book Entangled Minds about the connectiveness of 9/11 premonitions: “Many similar forebodings of 9/11 have surfaced.  Are they true premonitions, poignant coincidences, or due to psychological frailties like selective memory or wishful thinking?  Given the billions of dreams experienced nightly by people around the world, we would expect to hear about occasional ‘miraculous’ coincidences every so often.  How then can we tell if a premonition is real or illusory?  And why, given the horrific circumstances of 9/11, or the colossal tsunami tragedy of December 2004, aren’t more such premonitions reported? Rabbi Menachem Posner of Chabad urges that we consider Moses to be the greatest prophet of all time.  Quoting Maimonides, Rabbi Posner writes that the Lord knew Moses because, “All others received their prophecy while asleep or in a trancelike state.  Moses, on the other hand, was fully aware and conscious when he stood before G-d….”(2)  In all, Rabbi Menachem Posner adds only 48 prophets and seven prophetesses are “mentioned in the Bible,” but there have been many more.  Read Article
