Ministry supports spiritual lives of incarcerated men, women, children
Many churches and faith organizations send groups to Mexico, Guatemala, and other countries to build churches. In doing so, they believe they are spreading God’s word and building faith communities — shining light in the darkness. “And that’s great,” Marvin Barnes of La Vernia [Texas, USA] said. “But I can take you to a country that’s so dark, black, and ugly, where God’s word really needs to go. And it’s here, in our own country.” Barnes, retired from the U.S. Air Force and now living in La Vernia, takes the Word of God where few go willingly — and many are sent, whether they want to go or not. As a volunteer with the Kairos Prison Ministry, Barnes shares his faith and God’s love with the imprisoned — those separated from society because of crimes they have committed. Read Article
