Investigative medium Laine Crosby sees, hears, and talks with ghosts

Laine Crosby literally woke up one morning talking to dead people and her life has never been the same. She lived an ordinary life until she moved to a haunted house on an old Maryland plantation a few years ago. Since then, she has left behind her marketing career in corporate America to surrender to her conscience. She’s learned to work with her gift to help people, living and dead, as an investigative medium. Laine shares an excerpt from her remarkable story on her website. She’s now one of the ‘Ghosts of Gettysburg’ team, working with founder Mark Nesbitt to uncover secrets of well-known battlefields and other historical sites. As the daughter of Atlanta Civil War historian, C.P. Crosby, Laine comes by her love of history naturally. She spent much of her time growing up cataloging and cleaning cemeteries while assisting her father with his research. ‘I can remember writing an essay as a child on what I did over my summer vacation, and the strange looks I got when I explained that I had spent it scrubbing tombstones in centuries-old graveyards,’ laughs Laine. She has helped historians, historical organizations, authors, and archeologists uncover the hidden histories of locations in Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The second photo, above, was taken by Beverly Litsinger, president of the Maryland Ghost and Spirit Association, and shows Laine (in the blue jacket) at Westminster Hall in Baltimore. The figure behind her in the right corner of the photo is a ghost. Read Article
