Art Against Pain n Cuba

At first, the rule was marked by artists and friends that united to the enthusiasm of the painter Alexis Leyva “Kcho”, who went with a troop of actors and minstrels to its native Isla de la Juventud, in the southern part of Cuba, a territory that is still passing the outrages of the two hurricanes: Ike and Gustav. Then the list has become infinite, the encounter spaces multiplied and the experiences continue moving all, artists and damaged people. It is no longer possible to take the list of the artistic and collective brigades that take the culture to the devastated places: Pinar del Río, Isla de la Juventud, Camagüey, Holguín, Las Tunas, Baracoa (Guantánamo) and Granma, where other artists from each territory join them. “If at least we can accompany them with our songs, it is a privilege to be here”. This was the way the singer Liuba María Hevia felt it, being one of the first ones who took part in this initiative in Pinar del Río province.
